Three domains, one career

Building and operating, commercial responsibility, and public policy: long enough in each to have been answerable for the outcome.

The career, in short

Mohd Atasha started building websites in 2001. He then spent years in banking, in charge of teams that made sure money moved correctly. The clients were in Asia and in Europe.

He then worked for the Malaysian government. His role was to sit across the table from large foreign companies and make the case for investing in Malaysia. Two years of that is associated with more than eleven thousand jobs.

Next he moved to the other side of the table and helped shape policy, rather than argue under it. He has also worked closely with people who start technology companies, and with the investors behind them.

Today he advises senior teams. They ask what to do about a large technology change, what it is worth, and what could go wrong. He also helps write Malaysia’s national technical standards for artificial intelligence.

What is he like to work with? Fourteen people have answered that in public, with their names and their organisations. They describe someone who listens before he speaks, and who will tell you the thing you did not want to hear.

He does not perform certainty he does not have. The doctrine pages state the limits of their own evidence in print, including where a figure rests on his record rather than on a document you can check. Most people find that a relief.

The arc

2001: It began with websites, before Malaysia had a web industry to build them for. Hand-written markup, then content management systems, e-commerce, messaging platforms, hosting. Nearly a decade of shipping for clients.
2010: Institutional fund administration across Asia Pacific and Europe: coaching teams serving clients in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Luxembourg, Italy and France. Two consecutive years with no financial loss. Operational risk is a different subject once you have been answerable for it.
2013: National digital economy work. Two years engaging directly with chief executives at Fortune 500 and Forbes 2000 companies, in work associated with more than eleven thousand jobs and over seven billion ringgit of foreign direct investment for Malaysia. Then policy design and implementation, and a leadership programme built to put chief executives in a room with global operators.
2018: Appointed by Alibaba Group and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development as an advisor to the eFounders Fellowship, designing a two-week curriculum delivered at Alibaba Business School.
2019: Regional Director for Asia Pacific, excluding Japan, at Alphaus, a venture-backed cloud financial management company whose investors include DNX Ventures, NTT Docomo Ventures, MUFG, Archetype, Accord Ventures and 500 US. Part of the management team that took the company from loss-making to profitable, now growing at about fifty per cent year on year.
2023: Chief Strategist at Prezytion, a strategic research and development firm registered in Malaysia and in the United Kingdom, with the Malaysian company delivering to clients across insurance, government, education and energy. The work is air-gap zero trust network access: remote access with no open port and no published address, so that a scan of the estate finds nothing to attack. 2025: Seat in the AI Security and Resilience subgroup of the national AI Standards Task Force, convened by the Malaysian Technical Standards Forum, which writes technical codes for the communications and multimedia industry. He also contributes to the Artificial Intelligence Systems Cyber Security Framework (AISCF) Taskforce at the National Cyber Security Agency, whose framework guides any organisation that builds, supplies or uses AI systems in securing them across their whole life. It was launched in Putrajaya in July 2026 and is free to download.

Current work

Prezytion: Chief Strategist. Artificial intelligence, and air-gap zero trust network access, restoring what an air gap provided to estates that can no longer be isolated. Registered in Malaysia and in the United Kingdom, and delivering to clients in insurance, government, education and energy.
Alphaus: Regional Director, Asia Pacific excluding Japan. A venture-backed cloud financial management company.
